Kevin Sweatman, hailing from beautiful Augusta, GA, is the Director of Bands at Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati, OH, a position he has held since 2015. Prior to this role, he was the Director of Bands & Orchestras at Rapid Run Middle School, also of the Oak Hills School District, for five years. As an educator, Mr. Sweatman's students have received Superior ratings at the "Music in the Parks" Concert Festival, the District 14 Solo & Ensemble event, in addition to being selected annually by audition as members of the District 14 Honor Band, Honor Jazz Band, & Honor Orchestra. In addition to teaching full-time, Kevin performs regularly throughout the tri-state area in a variety of musical settings from latin and jazz to classical and musical theater.

Kevin graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Georgia Southern University, and from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in 2007 with a Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance. Kevin has studied trumpet with Dr. Bill Schmid, Dr. Alan Siebert, and Philip Collins, former Principal Trumpet of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, in addition to jazz studies with Phil DeGregg, former professor of Jazz Piano at CCM, and Rick Van Matre, former CCM Director of Jazz Studies.

Kevin has performed in 8 countries, appearing as a featured soloist in Austria, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic. He was selected amongst worldwide auditionees to be a member of the 2003 "World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles" International Youth Wind Orchestra in Yönköping, Sweden, as well as the "International Youth Jazz Orchestra" of the Banff Summer Arts Festival in Alberta, Canada in 2007 whose featured Artist-In-Residence was Grammy® Award-Winning composer, arranger, and big band leader, Maria Schneider. Kevin has been fortunate enough to have performed alongside such musical greats as John Clayton, Kenny Werner, Terrell Stafford, Tom “Bones" Malone, Marvin Stamm, Andy Montañez, Wycliffe Gordon, and Arturo Sandoval.

Kevin can be heard as a member of the sizzlin' Latin band, Clave Son, with his own jazz quintet, as well as a trumpet soloist for wedding ceremonies and church services. Kevin also performs occasionally with other noted Cincinnati ensembles such as the Blue Wisp Big Band, Tropicoso, Monk River, Frequency, and Carmon DeLeone's New Studio Big Band.

Kevin can be heard on the CCM Jazz Ensemble's studio album release, "Treadin' with Treadwell" (Sea Breeze Records, 2008) as well as on the annual PNC "Salsa on the Square" Compilation CD's featuring Cincinnati's Premier Latin Ensembles.


Chelsey Sweatman, originally from Connellsville, PA, is the Director of Choirs at Bridgetown Middle School of the Oak Hills School District in Cincinnati, OH, a position she has held since 2014. Previously, she held the position of General Music and Choir Director at Delshire Elementary of Oak Hills for 5 years. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, studying with a voice concentration under Dr. Barbara Paver. In addition, she holds an Orff-Schulwerk Level I Certification from the University of Kentucky.

While at CCM, Chelsey received the Spirit of Community Award for outstanding leadership, and was named the College’s Presser Scholar for outstanding academic and musical achievement in music education. Chelsey was named Teacher of the Year in 2011 at Delshire Elementary School, and selected to represent the Oak Hills School District as the Hamilton County Teacher of Excellence Award winner for her dedication and excellence in education in 2013.

Chelsey is currently a member of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association, the Greater Cincinnati Orff-Schulwerk Chapter, National Association for Music Education, and the Ohio Music Educators Association.

Kevin and Chelsey were married in July 2011, reside in Northern Kentucky, and have two beautiful, energetic, awesome sons.
